I really think sometimes I can plan my life out; I can set goals and achieve them, I can save for a trip and go, I can make a goal to workout and do it. So many times I have thought I was IN CONTROL of my life and I was the captain…. I was so wrong. Our little Calli has brought our family so much happiness just by being her tenderhearted self, she has taught us so much about life. She has taught us how to be strong when you are scared to death and how to enjoy EVERYTHING you are blessed with.
Our sweet little girl has been growing her hair for a very long time. Calli was sick, pretty sick. We needed to fly to Seattle for a care conference and test before starting her on drugs which could possibly make her hair fall out. Calli was so curious about all the kids with “shinny heads” she didn’t really grasp it at that time as she had just turned 3 but when her friend Hannah donated her hair son after and we explained it was for the kids with the “shinny heads” Calli wanted to do the same. Waiting for your hair to grow 10 inches as a child is such a long journey for a 6-going-on-7 year old. Calli asked every day at times if it was long enough to cut off, our answer was always the same “ALMOST!” She was very patient about it and we thought it would be long enough at Christmas…. but it wasn’t so we waited. Then we thought it would be a really good Valentines Day present for a sweet little girl sporting and “shinny head” but then Calli decided her birthday would be the perfect time and it was FINALLY long enough! She asked to have her hair cut at her party so I called in a favor from my favorite stylist EVER Johnna and it was a date! Calli was so happy, I cried. Oh the emotions. What a journey she has been on in her 7 years all with a HUGE smile on her face! I am so proud of her for being so passionate about something, she is going to do amazing things with her life you wait and see!
Of course I couldn’t stand the thought of her cutting off her hair without some fabulous pictures of it so we headed to Red Lodge, my friend Sara in tow, and we set out for a 20 minute mini-session before we feasted on some fabulous pizza! Poor little Layla still hates the cold just as she always has, she cried and screamed BUT with a tiny bit of bribery we did get a couple pictures of her too. n-joy!
